Engine coolant is really a mixture of antifreeze, de-ionized water and additives to keep our engine protected and working well. It’s not just for dissipating energy and keeping cool either; engine coolant ensures that the water in your vehicle’s radiator system does not freeze in winter, or boil and evaporate in summer. Make sure to never mix coolants containing different inhibition technologies and always completely change the coolant during the regular repairs to prevent any engine damage.

This is the oldest classification of automotive lubricants, defining viscosity ranges only, but does not take into account performance requirements.
